Remote control boats have electrically operated servos that allow them to maneuver, pick up speed and stop. just like full-sized boats, rc boats can take on water through the drive shaft. the typical rc drive shaft uses a universal joint driven off the engine to propel a shaft through a stuffing box.. I adapted this approach to the tug drive and built my own version of the coupling. basically, the motor drives a set of magnets in a housing and couples magnetically to a magnetic rotor which is housed in a waterproof canister. the rotor is connected to the drive shaft which passes through a tube which is epoxy sealed to the hull.. Build a model boat propeller shaft from scratch using relatively common tools and materials for converting a plastic kit to rc. a model boat propeller shaft isn't normally something i'd build from scratch..
